New Years Resolutions
We made it! 2021 is finally in sight, and so is the prospect of a fresh start and clean slate for the new year. Like many people, I’m ready to put this pandemic behind us, rejoin society and move forward to some form of normalcy, but first… let’s reflect.
During a recent Spotlight interview, Libby Moore, international speaker, founder of LoveXGlobal and former Chief of Staff to Oprah Winfrey mentioned that, “Truly devastating things are happening as a result of COVID, and at the same time, innovative and creative opportunities are being birthed right now that were not even considered prior to COVID.” Take this blog, for example, which I had never entertained the idea of starting before the pandemic, that has since taken off, led to amazing opportunities and opened doors that wouldn’t have existed if it weren’t for the ways in which COVID impacted my career in the events industry.
If the last year has taught me anything, it’s that we are capable of so much more than we realize. When I gave myself permission to dedicate my time to a passion project, the floodgates opened to newfound levels of creativity, entrepreneurship and community that I could have never anticipated. When I supported and encouraged myself to venture into the unknown and believed in the significance of my own work, that is when the world around me started to change. Manifestation people, is a real thing.
Sometimes I joke that I’m not meant to be in this generation, (technically speaking, GenZ) because technology is not my forte, I literally just joined TikTok, and I most certainly don’t keep up with the latest trends. So it’s only fitting that I was late to join the manifestation train, and reap the benefits of higher consciousness that so many of my peers seemed to master well before me. Now that the power of positivity and law of attraction is being shared everywhere, it’s harder to miss, thus reaching folks like myself.
So as I reflect on this past year that posed immense challenges, I cannot help but feel grateful for the lessons it taught me. Much of which I credit to manifestation, that I happened to be practicing without even knowing it. If you’re curious about what I mean, I highly encourage that you do some research. There are endless methods, articles and apps out there to guide you through the process.
There are 5 ways that I incorporate manifestation into my life.
I organize mine in a non-traditional sense, through Pinterest, my iPhone wallpaper, and my social media. The more often I see something inspirational or aspirational, the more likely I am to take actionable steps towards my goals.
Practicing even just ten a day has made a huge difference in my mindset. If you’re not sure where to start, you can find great templates and prompts on Pinterest.
Surrounding myself with compassionate, self-motivated, and positive people has invited meaningful and intellectual conversations, outside encouragement and new ways of thinking into my life.
Self Development Podcasts
While I cook, clean, fold laundry, or any other tedious tasks, I listen to podcasts on business, entrepreneurship, blogging, and the power of positive thinking. These inspire me to practice what the podcasts share and reconsider my usual way of doing things. If you’re new to podcasts, try The Science of Happiness, a relatively quick listen that packs a punch.
Freedom to Try Without Judgement
Though it can be easier said than done, I allow myself to try and potentially fail, without passing any self judgement. I don’t want to be my own biggest roadblock to happiness and success. So, I redirect the thoughts in my head and let me tell you something, freedom is bliss.
If you’re struggling to define a new years resolution that invites real change into your life in 2021, resolve to try even one of the above practices. Manifestation has empowered me to find a newfound sense of self and a deeper appreciation for the people and things in my life, and I hope that someday soon, it will do the same for you.
